Apparently, to be a well rounded and fulfilled individual, there needs to be sufficient energy being topped up, into four main areas of our lives. These are…

HEALTH ~ PHYSICAL

WEALTH ~ CAREER SATISFACTION , FINANCES

SOCIAL ~ RELATIONSHIPS, HOBBIES

Anxiety and stress are becoming the black plague of our society. Another, especially in the west, is obesity. How are we falling prey to the many health conditions, when we have more knowledge and technology than ever before!

Being full in one area…. fitness…. is great but if you are stressed at work, this can be doing your health damage and you wont even know it. Stress can also impact other areas such as relationships and sense of self. Sleep can be affected. So although it may seem as if only one area is lacking….. usually, this one area spills over and affects others.

Take a look at these four main areas and assess if you are lacking in some areas…. if so, i have some fabulous ideas and techniques for you. Before you know it, you will be so full…. your cup will be flowing over.

 

SELF 

GRATITUDE

When was the last time we stopped and took a good look around us. If you are anything like me, you will tend to look at all the mess and what needs updating or changing in you home, garden, clothing and car.

HOW DOES LOOKING AT ALL THE IMPERFECTIONS MAKE YOU FEEL? i’m guessing that the answer is…. not a good feeling, possibly stress and frustration. 

If we were to turn on the computer and google poverty… the statistics will tell you that there are 736 million people, living in poverty right now! More than 14 million are in poverty in the uk, this includes 4 million children and 2 million pensioners.  This means that they are living on an income 60% less of the median income.

 

 

We are all guilty of taking what we have for granted and it’s great to be thinking bigger. What’s not so great is overlooking all the abundance that already exists and it’s NOT JUST ABOUT THE MONEY AND POSSESSIONS WE POSES!

From the perspective of karma and the law of attraction…. if you are looking around at and putting energy out that is coming from a place of lack, then that is exactly what you will get more of in your life.

This is a habit that can be broken with a gratitude practice. To stop the inner complaining and comparing to others…. looking at the bigger picture and realising that, compared to some, our lives are not that dismal. Its what we are allowing our minds to focus on which causes the stress, unhappiness and frustration!

TOP TIPS TO IMPROVE APPRECIATION

~ Get a really lovely diary or journal

~ Write down, in one minute, without thinking too hard…. all the things you are thankful for

~ Jot down three things you are thankful for both morning upon waking and at night before bed

~ put positive affirmations up around your home and as the screensaver on your computer or mobile

~ Help someone in need……. give food at the local supermarket for the food bank or donate clothes to charity

A friend of mine works for a packaging company, it’s a pretty good job , well paid with supervisory responsibility. Although Pete doesn’t dislike his job, he would like more money and less hours.

Then out of nowhere, Pete was offered another job with less hours and an impressive increase in wage to 50k a year. What do you think he did?…………………..HE TURNED IT DOWN!!

He has no children and no responsibility accept to pay his mortgage every month. When he was asked why he had turned down such an offer….. it basically came down to FEAR. He explained that he had been working at his current job for over 10 years and was worried about this new job being insecure…. So he decided to stay put because it was safe!

 

There are many reasons that people would like to change their jobs. In the workplace, statistics show that many absences are caused by stress, anxiety, skeletal back problems, bullying and many more.

There are others who simply carry on working in an environment that they find they are disengaged with. We are taught from an early age, to go to college or uni and get a job. There is little to no focus on self fulfillment, purpose or even happiness! 

So millions of people accept this as their reality… un-be known to them, that there are alternatives to their current reality.

ONLINE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES have never been so available and the timing is also ideal! 

During lock down, millions of businesses and individuals were literally “saved” by the online space. With the likes of zoom…. companies were able to communicate via video conference. Those isolated in their homes could connect with family and friends and even doctors we using the tool for their life saving work!

People were literally forced to get their business online or go bust and this was what thousands of businesses were doing ten years ago! The brick and mortar businesses of the high street have been in decline for a number of years. It is just a fact that we now live in the digital era.

There are many options available and one of the main areas to focus on is happiness, fulfillment and purpose. Many people like the online business option because costs far lower, than attending and paying for a college degree. You can also build an online business whilst in your full time job and eventually get established enough to replace that unfulfilling job.

NUTRITION

The single most important aspect of physical and emotional well-being, is affected by what we are ingesting on a daily basis. Having a diet jam packed full of fast and processed foods will have two outcomes long term……. disease in the form of cancer, heart disease, obesity. Emotional stress, anxiety, depression and a lack of enthusiasm and motivation.

 

supermarkets are giving food a bad name…. with all the canned , frozen ready meals and processed meats at a lower price than fresh fish and natural and organic produce. 

Cancer is still a disease that has no cure…. so stuffing our faces with foods full of chemicals and pesticides is just plain dangerous to our body.

sugar is another food that needs to be in moderation. The main reason we keep grabbing for the sweet stuff, is because it actually changes the body chemistry…. such as the sugar rush or high. But once that high subsides, then comes the crash. This up and down roller coaster of sugar is damaging to the body and our teeth.

 

FOOD FOR BODY AND MIND

The body needs, protein, healthy fats, carbs and an abundance of vitamins and minerals to function at its peak. It also requires around 2.5 litres a day, which does not include tea or coffee.

Food is not always related to nutrition…. or we would all be eating the right kind of foods each and every day. What does affect our choices are emotions. WE WANT THE CHOCOLATE BAR BECAUSE WE WANT TO FEEL GOOD….. EMOTION IS ATTACHED TO FOOD FOR A GREAT NUMBER OF PEOPLE, myself included.

Take a look at the food in your cupboards and notice how you feel when you are reaching for healthy or unhealthy foods. If you are an emotional eater, by recognizing this habit, can be the first step towards making small changes. 

Going on diets and fad crazes doesn’t usually produce, long lasting changes but small gradual changes and becoming more aware of the food we eat, is a great first step towards a healthier body and mind.

With busy lives… kids and work…. finding time to hang out with our bestie can be tricky. It can feel like a chore to get ready and head out the door when you are tired and just want to pop your pj’s on and veg out on the sofa.

Having these connections can however, improve our physical and emotional health. It can strengthen the immune system, and reduce the risk of depression, anxiety and heart disease…. 

 

There are several types of relationships and these all play a different role in our lives. The parental relationship is arguably the most precious and also vitally important. If we are not connected to our children, this will have an impact on both both the parent and the child. A fantastic book, that i highly recommend any parent read is …. the awakened family by Dr Shefali.

Not only will this book enlighten you , improve your relationship with your kids and yourself but also make your life a lot simpler. I found it revolutionary …. as did Oprah Winfrey!

  

 

 

The next relationship, If we have one, is the love relationship we have with our partner. This is absolutely amazing two months in but what about ten years… day in day out with this person.

I’m no relationship expert by any means but I a=have been married for twenty years. The most damage I have experienced in my own life, is lack of communication.

We can take one another for granted, get distracted with work, kids and ourselves and our other half gets forgotten …….

The relationships we have with friends ca be less intense but still one that needs care, time and work, if they are to be long lasting with connection. Understanding the other person’s life, being non judgemental and an equal partner is always a recipe for success. A loast book for you and one that i am part way through… another classic……..

So lets recap…. all of the different areas of our lives seem to have an impact on our emotional and physical well being. If we are happy with our children’s relationship but are not socialising with friends, then there is no attention to self. As relationships need to be filled up in all areas.

Lets see how we all get on with topping up our cups, there’s one or two that i need too…..
